INFORMATION FOR A SUCCESSFUL VIRTUAL CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE:
ZOOM WEBINAR
To participate in this virtual conference experience, we are using a platform called Zoom Webinar.

Registrants will receive an e-mail at least 48 hours before the start of the conference with a link to join the webinar.
-
Please refer to the e-mail address you used to register as that is where the information will be sent.
-
The e-mail will come from "Conferences & Events Concordia" with an address of "no-reply@zoom.us" Click on the link that says "Click Here to Join."
-
If you don't receive the invitation e-mail by this time, please make sure to check your junk/spam folder. If it isn't there, please contact the Office of Conferences & Events at Concordia College by e-mailing conferences@cord.edu or by calling 218.299.3566.
Important reminders | BEFORE:
-
You can join the webinar through a web browser or the Zoom client on a desktop or laptop.
-
If you get a message on your computer that says "Update Required," feel free to click "Join from browser" instead of having your computer try to download the Zoom program. There is no need to download anything!
-
If you join the webinar on a mobile device, you will be prompted to download the Zoom app first.
-
Participants do not need their own Zoom account to join.
-
Participants will not appear on video.
-
Participants will not have audio capabilities within the webinar. You should be able to hear the presentations, but no one will be able to hear you.

Important reminders | DURING:
-
If you are shown a page that says "Join a Meeting" or "Webinar Registration," please enter your information and click "Join."
-
Once you join the webinar, you may receive a message that says "waiting for the host to start this meeting" or "Please wait. The webinar will begin soon." This just means you are on-time! When the webinar begins, your screen will automatically change to show the conference presentation. We thank you in advance for your patience.
-
For interaction while a speaker is presenting:
-
Click on "Q&A" to submit a question or comment during any portion of the presentation
-
Please be aware that the Q&A chat box is visible to all participants, including the session speaker and a session moderator.
-
The moderator will be watching/responding to participants in the chat box to then communicate to the presenter as time allows.
-
Virtually 'raising your hand' may also be an option on your screen, but we will not be utilizing this function during the webinar.
-
-
You do not need to do anything to move from session to session throughout the day. Once you click on the initial link in the e-mail you received, you will be logged in and able to view each of the presentations as they happen. Just sit back and enjoy!
-
There will be TWO e-mails... each with a different link for the two days of the virtual conference. One link will allow you to view Wednesday's sessions as they are happening. And the second e-mail will provide access on Thursday.
Important reminders | AFTER:
-
After the completion of the conference on the second day, you will receive an e-mail with a link to a survey. This will provide you with an opportunity to provide feedback/comments on your virtual conference experience, as well as information on how to receive your CEUs.

COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT: Decision to move from in-person to virtual
June 2020: Caring for the safety and well-being of our attendees is the most important priority during the ongoing challenges of COVID-19. Over the past several months, the Northern Plains Conference on Aging planning committee has been continuously evaluating the updated recommendations from the Center for Disease Control as well as both Minnesota and North Dakota Department of Health as it relates to large events and gatherings.
The decision has been made to forgo an in-person conference this year. However, we are excited to be moving forward with a virtual conference in October. While we will certainly miss gathering together in person, we stay committed to our 25 year history of providing high-quality, professional development and programming. Please register with confidence knowing that we have another great year planned for you – thank you for your continued support of the Northern Plains Conference on Aging.
